PSRRP with support from the World Bank presents ICT equipment to CHRAJ

The office equipment included 20 desktop computers, 19 laptops, 25 printers, 25 colour photocopy machines, 20 user licenses, 20 user licenses for application software, 20 user-licenses for security software, 20 Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) devices, 20 digital voice recorders, 20 LED/LCD mini projector and 20 scanners. The remaining items are 5 professional mobile scanners, 20 routers and 20 office SIM handset for voice communication. 

Presenting the equipment to CHRAJ, the Technical Advisor to the Senior Minister, Mr. Robert K. Poku Kyei who represented the Senior Minister said, the equipment were from a US$35 million partial credit facility from the World Bank to support the PSRRP purposely to improve the efficiency and accountability on the delivery of services to the public. 

 

According to Technical Advisor, this Project was part of the implementation of broader National Public Sector Reform Strategy (NPSRS) 2018 – 2023 which was launched by His Excellency the President in August 2018. The Project Manager of the PSRRP, Dr. Betty Nanor Arthur, handed over the equipment to the Commissioner of CHRAJ. Mr. Poku Kyei said CHRAJ was one of the 16 beneficiary public institutions within the project which is divided into three categories. 

 

The categories include frontline service delivery agencies such as the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Passport Office (PO), the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Births and Deaths Registry (BDR). The parent ministries being the second category includes the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; the Ministry of the Interior; Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; and the Ministry of Transport. There are also six central management agencies which includes Public Services Commission (PSC), the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS), the Public Records and Archives Administration Department (PRAAD), Ministry of Monitoring and Evaluation, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), National Information Technology Agency (NITA) and the Office of the Senior Minister. In line with CHRAJ component under the PSRRP implementation, the support was to strengthen the grievance complaints units, speed up and improve their service delivery to the public.             

 

Receiving the items, the Commissioner of CHRAJ, Mr. Joseph Akanjolenur Whittal, expressed his utmost appreciation to the Office of the Senior Minister and the World Bank by indicating that he was delighted at the presentation of these equipment which would enable CHRAJ improve their mandate by helping their regional offices to process complaints on time. He intimated that the equipment would enable their officers to place complaints online for processing to improve service delivery and also hold public sector institutions accountable. 

 

One major aspect according to the Commissioner was about capacity building and CHRAJ was going to use the equipment to build the capacity of officers from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country by ensuring that they organize online training through some consultancy services to improve upon service delivery.
